theWord Commentaries 1-2-3 John
By David Cox

These are all commentaries on one or more of the epistles of John. Within theWord program, you can search for modules (make a module set) looking for the keyphrase (1jncmt) or (2jncmt) or (3jncmt). This will help you lock down all the modules that are just commentaries of one of John’s epistles, 1st John, 2nd John, or 3rd John. This is very helpful in doing searches on only part of a theWord library instead of all of it.

If you are going to search these epistles for comments, I would recommend Simpson and Alexander first.

candlish-1jn(1jncmt).cmt.twm

Note that A.B. Simpson was with Christian Missionary and Alliance movement started by him, and his commentaries are very good. These are basically the same commenary.

Gore and Candlish are older commentaries (I believe Anglican) and which there may be some doctrinal points I would not agree with them on, they will have some really good comments in general on the different parts of John.

Alexander is from the Expositor’s Bible Commentary series which is very conservative, although it is a bit dated and older.

I am not familiar with Miller nor King.
